Position Overview

The HVAC & Refrigeration Technician is responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and reliability of all air conditioning and refrigeration systems across store operations.

The role is essential in maintaining customer comfort, ensuring food safety standards, and supporting uninterrupted retail operations through high-performance HVAC and refrigeration systems.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintenance & System Operations

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on HVAC and refrigeration systems
• Service air conditioning units, cold rooms, chillers, and refrigeration equipment
• Monitor system performance and ensure optimal efficiency

2. Troubleshooting & Repairs

• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related faults
• Perform leak detection and refrigerant management
• Repair compressors, motors, fans, thermostats, and control systems
• Respond rapidly to breakdowns impacting operations or product preservation

3. System Optimization & Energy Efficiency

• Monitor system performance and recommend energy-saving improvements
• Ensure proper functioning of all components to optimize consumption and performance

4. Installation & Contractor Coordination

• Support installation and commissioning of HVAC and refrigeration systems
• Supervise external contractors during major repairs or installations
• Ensure compliance with technical and safety standards

5. Training & Team Support

• Guide and support local technicians on maintenance best practices
• Ensure knowledge transfer and adherence to operational standards

6. Compliance & Documentation

• Maintain service records, maintenance logs, and repair reports
• Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and operational standards

Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or technical certification in HVAC, Refrigeration, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance (depending on seniority level)
• Experience in retail, supermarkets, or large-scale commercial environments is highly preferred

Technical Competencies

• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and controls
• Expertise in split units, central AC, VRF systems, and refrigeration equipment
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities across electrical and mechanical systems

• Ability to work under pressure in operational environments
• Good communication and team collaboration skills

Equipment Expertise

• Split air conditioning systems
