Role Overview

The Regional Operations Manager serves as the operational backbone of a large-scale food retail and hypermarket business in Ghana, overseeing all store activities across the region to ensure delivery of international brand standards.

This senior leadership role is responsible for driving sales performance, operational excellence, and customer experience across all locations, starting with the pilot store in Accra. The role will also ensure the successful integration of international retail standards into the local context while building and scaling a high-performing organization.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operational performance across all stores, ensuring full compliance with brand and quality standards
  • Drive operational excellence, efficiency, and consistency across the network
  • Define and implement operational strategies aligned with regional and global objectives

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and support Store Directors in driving commercial performance and operational KPIs
  • Recruit, coach, and appraise Store Directors and key management staff
  • Build and foster a high-performance, customer-centric culture across all locations

Performance Management

  • Monitor and analyze financial performance including P&L, shrinkage, and cost control
  • Implement corrective actions to ensure achievement of sales and profitability targets
  • Drive continuous performance improvement across all stores

Supply Chain & Inventory

  • Ensure optimal stock management and product availability across all locations
  • Oversee coordination with supply chain and category management teams
  • Ensure effective control of waste, shrinkage, and inventory discrepancies

Customer Experience

  • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality customer experience aligned with international retail standards
  • Drive initiatives to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Monitor service standards and implement continuous improvement actions

Compliance & Governance

  • Ensure full compliance with local labor laws, health & safety, and food safety standards
  • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with international guidelines
  • Conduct regular store visits and operational audits to assess performance and identify improvement opportunities
  • Act as the key liaison between store operations, head office, and international partners

Expansion & Development

  • Drive the rollout of new stores and ensure smooth operational setup
  • Support the scaling of operations in line with the franchise model and growth strategy

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive retail experience, with at least 4 years in a multi-site leadership role
  • Proven track record in large-format supermarket or hypermarket environments
  • Experience within international retail brands is essential

  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L and operational budgets
